Advertising is widely used to promote a product or a service.  Value-added agriculture is no exception. 

Value-added agriculture provides some unique advertising opportunities and challenges. Advertising is controlled communication about a product.

Definition of Product Advertising

Product advertising is any method of communication about the promotion of a product in an attempt to induce potential customers to purchase the product.

An advertisement usually requires payment to a communication channel. The general objective is to increase brand awareness or to demonstrate the differences between the product and competing products to sell them.

Distribution Channels

Product advertisement can be done through numerous communication channels. Some common channels are listed here:

  1. Television
  2. Radio
  3. Print (newspapers and magazines)
  4. Mail (flyers, circulars, coupons)
  5. Websites
  6. Social media
  7. Signs and billboards
