System Start Up
This is a general term used to describe the process of preparing the computer, operating system, hardware, or software for operation. This is more commonly referred to as the boot or boot up.
Booting
Booting is a process or set of operations that loads and so starts the operating system, starting from the point when user switches on the power button.
Types of Booting
- Cold booting (b) warm booting
- Cold booting: When the computer is started after having been switched off.
- Warm booting: When the operating system alone is restarted after a system crash or freeze.
Shut Down:
Shut down is a term used to describe the process of closing all software programs in preparation to turn off a computer’s power. The operating system is the last program to be close, and it is highly recommended that all computers be properly shut down before being turned off to help prevent data corruption.
