Adverse Reactions

Refer to the Warning section for additional information.

Possible side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, excess saliva/drooling, blurred vision, weight gain, constipation, headache, and difficulty sleeping. If any of these symptoms persist or worsen, promptly inform your doctor or pharmacist.

Dizziness and lightheadedness may heighten the risk of falls. Exercise caution when transitioning from a seated or lying position to standing.

Bear in mind that your doctor has prescribed this medication because they have determined that its benefits outweigh the risk of side effects. Many individuals using this medication do not experience serious adverse effects.

Notify your doctor immediately if you experience any severe side effects, such as fainting, changes in mental or mood states (such as heightened anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts), difficulty swallowing, restlessness (particularly in the legs), tremors, muscle spasms, mask-like facial expressions, seizures, difficulty controlling certain impulses (such as gambling, sexual behavior, eating, or shopping), or interrupted breathing during sleep.

Rarely, this medication may elevate blood sugar levels, potentially exacerbating or causing diabetes. Inform your doctor promptly if you notice symptoms of high blood sugar, such as increased thirst or urination. If you already have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar levels regularly as directed and share the results with your doctor. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes treatment plan, exercise regimen, or dietary habits.

This medication may occasionally induce tardive dyskinesia, a condition that, in some instances, may be irreversible. Inform your doctor immediately if you develop any unusual, involuntary movements, particularly in the face, mouth, tongue, arms, or legs.

In rare cases, this medication may trigger neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), a severe condition that necessitates immediate medical attention. Seek medical help promptly if you experience symptoms such as fever, muscle stiffness, pain, tenderness, weakness, severe confusion, sweating, rapid or irregular heartbeat, dark urine, or signs of kidney issues (such as changes in urine output).

Although uncommon, a severe allergic reaction to this medication is possible. Seek immediate medical assistance if you notice symptoms such as fever, swollen lymph nodes, rash, itching, swelling (especially of the face, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing.

This list does not encompass all potential side effects. Should you observe any other effects not mentioned above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
