Occurrences such as a sore throat, muscle discomfort, weight gain, or dental issues may manifest. Should any of these conditions persist or worsen, promptly inform your physician or pharmacist.
Bear in mind that your doctor has prescribed this medication because they have deemed that its benefits outweigh the risk of adverse effects. Many individuals using this medication experience no severe side effects.
Notify your doctor immediately if you experience any severe side effects, including but not limited to: deterioration or onset of vision problems (such as blurred vision), bone fractures, reddish-colored urine, urgency or pain during urination, or indications of liver dysfunction (such as persistent nausea/vomiting, dark urine, yellowing of eyes/skin, or abdominal discomfort).
Pioglitazone typically does not induce low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). However, it may occur if this drug is combined with other diabetes medications (such as insulin or a sulfonylurea). Hypoglycemia is more likely if you consume substantial amounts of alcohol, engage in unusually strenuous physical activity, or fail to intake sufficient calories from food. To mitigate the risk of low blood sugar, adhere to regular meal timings and avoid skipping meals. Consult your doctor or pharmacist to determine the appropriate course of action if you miss a meal.
Symptoms of low blood sugar comprise sudden perspiration, trembling, rapid heartbeat, hunger, blurred vision, lightheadedness, or tingling sensations in the extremities. It is advisable to carry glucose tablets or gel to address low blood sugar. In the absence of these options, swiftly elevate your blood sugar levels by consuming a readily available source of sugar such as table sugar, honey, candy, fruit juice, or non-diet soda. Promptly inform your doctor about the occurrence and your utilization of these remedies.
Manifestations of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) include increased thirst and urination. Should these symptoms arise, promptly notify your doctor. Adjustments to your diabetes medication, exercise regimen, or dietary intake may be necessary.
Although rare, a severe allergic reaction to this medication may occur. Seek immediate medical assistance if you observe any symptoms indicative of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, itching/swelling (particularly of the face, tongue, or throat), dizziness, or difficulty breathing.
